Valve announced the price of the Steam Frame on Monday, and it is steep. The 256GB kit costs $1,059, while the 1TB model costs $1,299.
Both models feature a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and a 21.6 Wh lithium-ion battery. They also have two 2160 x 2160 LCD displays with 72Hz to 144Hz refresh rates.
The Steam Frame has inside-out camera-based tracking, a dual microphone array, and support for Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4. It does not ship with a dedicated power supply unit, but any 45W or higher USB-C charger will work.
Valve sells a standalone Steam hardware power supply unit for $29. The company notes that this is likely unnecessary for Steam Deck owners, who probably already have a compatible charger.

To buy a Steam Frame, customers must sign up for a reservation system on the Steam Frame store page. They can choose their preferred model and join the list anytime between now and September 17.
On September 17, Valve will conduct a one-time randomization to determine the order for reservations and the waitlist. Customers will receive an email with their place in line, and those who make it into the initial queue will get an email with the option to purchase a unit.
The Steam Frame’s price is significantly higher than the Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S, but it is built for true PC gaming in virtual reality. Despite the high price, there are likely many people willing to pay the premium for access to new Steam hardware.
