Cassava Technologies is integrating NVIDIA’s open-source Nemotron models into its African AI platform, enabling enterprises to access these models as a service without needing their own infrastructure.
On October 21, 2026, the Pan-African technology group announced the expansion of its AI Factory with the addition of the Nemotron family of models. These models will be available through the Cassava AI Multi-Model Exchange (CAIMEx) as a locally hosted, managed inference service, offered to customers via APIs.
CAIMEx acts as a single gateway for customers, particularly telecommunications companies, to access and switch between multiple large language models without re-engineering their integrations. This approach uses regional infrastructure to reduce latency and ensure in-region data handling when necessary.
The Nemotron models offer reasoning and tool-use capabilities, allowing customers to develop AI agents that can handle complex tasks and interact with business tools. As the models’ weights, training data, and recipes are open, developers can fine-tune them for specific applications.
Ahmed El Beheiry, Group Chief Technology and AI Officer at Cassava Technologies, stated, “Expanding our AI Factory across our markets is about creating the capacity and economics needed for businesses to build and deploy AI solutions at scale.” He emphasized that it aims to provide enterprises and service providers with “more choice in how they access and deliver these capabilities to their customers.”
As AI agents take on more complex and longer-running tasks, Cassava stresses the importance of security and guardrails in the infrastructure. It is using NVIDIA OpenShell to integrate model compute, governed agent execution, and independent security enforcement for customers’ agentic workloads on the AI Factory.
To improve efficiency, Cassava introduces the CAIMEx Token Optimiser. This tool identifies and reuses previously processed information, reducing computing requirements and helping customers use their AI tokens more effectively. This optimization applies to both Cassava-hosted and third-party models.
Integrating Nemotron models into CAIMEx continues Cassava’s technology partnerships this year. Its security arm, Liquid C2, agreed to resell KnowBe4’s security awareness training to African enterprises. Additionally, Cassava provides the AI layer for an AI data center that Vodafone Business and Elsewedy Electric plan to build in Egypt.
Cassava Technologies operates through businesses like Liquid Intelligent Technologies, Africa Data Centres, Distributed Power Africa, and the fintech Sasai, serving customers in 94 countries.
The announcement did not provide details on the availability, cost, or initial launch markets for the Nemotron models on CAIMEx.
